Moneyline Monday: Best Bets for November 14

Sometimes, things just don’t go the right way. That’s exactly what happened on Sunday, as Chicago controlled most of the game against Detroit until Justin Fields tossed a terrible pick-six and the Raiders’ defense proved useless against Indianapolis. And so once again it’s time to try to bounce back, and we’ve got a full schedule with which to do it.

Just a reminder: We’re just a week away from the United States’ opener in the World Cup. Let’s get some money to have some fun with that; here are my best bets for November 14.

RICHMOND ML, +130

The Spiders have the defensive prowess to slow down Charleston’s tempo game and force the Cougars to take their time. This is an experienced team that’s loaded with seniors and an impressive freshman named Jason Nelson. That should allow the Spiders to come out of a tough road test with a victory.

BELMONT ML, -140

The Bruins have dominated the Nashville city rivalry with Lipscomb, winning the past six meetings and 17 of the past 19 against the Bisons. Belmont has the big advantage on defense, as Lipscomb gives up far too many points to expect to hold off an experienced offensive attack. This team went 25-8 a season ago, and they’ve still got Ben Sheppard around. Expect Belmont to make it seven straight.

MINNESOTA ML, +105

The Golden Gophers’ last non-conference loss at the Barn came against DePaul. That happened in 2019, but I don’t expect a repeat here. Minnesota will likely turn this into a slow-paced contest, which really isn’t how the Blue Demons want to play. Neither team is a great offensive side, which means a slower-paced game likely favors the home game. Plus, I just don’t want to go against Minnesota in the Barn.

PENN STATE ML, -225

I’ll probably give the points with the Nittany Lions, but this might be one where you just take the win. Penn State’s style was “gritty, not pretty” a year ago, but this isn’t the same team as last year’s squad. The Nittany Lions can really shoot the ball this season, and that’s a big advantage in this game. Being that Butler does not shoot the ball very well from deep and doesn’t play good defense on the arc, Penn State should handle this one.

EAGLES ML, -550

This is another one where you’re working with the spread. Philadelphia shouldn’t have any problems here, as the Eagles have won nine of 11 against Washington and have dominated the NFC East all season long. The Eagles are going to lose a game they shouldn’t at some point, but I don’t think this is the one. They should roll past the Commanders.
