As the NHL season winds down our first real match up of win or done for a NHL club this club being the Calgary Flames who visit the Winnipeg Jets tonight. The Jets lead the Flames by two points for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference with one game in hand. They also own the first tiebreaker with 33 regulation wins, four more than the Flames. This will definitely have a game 7 feel to it in Winnipeg. The Jets, who also lead the Nashville Predators by three points for the second wild card, enter with a bit more momentum having outscored opponents 12-3 in consecutive victories against the Detroit Red Wings (6-2) and New Jersey Devils (6-1). A third straight regulation win, and a four-point edge over the Flames remains equally critical for the Jets, who are seeking a postseason berth after missing the playoffs last season. With that we recommend a play on the Winnipeg Jets to get the job done at home an essentially extinguish the flames playoff hopes. In the other Match up we have the Tampa Bay Lightening visiting the New York Rangers, Tampa Bay has won three straight and is looking in fine playoff form. In the streak, the Lightning outscored the Carolina Hurricanes, Washington Capitals and New York Islanders 14-1, including two shutouts from goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy. Tampa Bay has been great at home this season, going 27-7-5, but is 18-19-1 on the road. Other than that, not many negatives with them. The Rangers are 10-2-2 in their past 14 games, I can’t really find any faults in their game right now. Of their four losses in their past 14 games, each were by one goal, so clearly they’ve played very well over this stretch.
