Although I am not nearly as versed as the Kota Capper’s CEO, Pace, is on women’s college basketball, I am still a fan of the teams. Before I give you some of my favorite plays for today’s slate of games, I want to just go on a mini rant. Yes, betting women’s college basketball is not a popular choice among bettors. However, for those that like to bet women’s college basketball (like Pace and I) every sportsbook there is does not put out lines for games until the day of if they even offer it.
Here is where I get irritated: If we want to grow the women’s basketball and women’s athletics altogether, there has to be steps that are taken. Not offering CWBB lines or not putting out lines until the day of the is simply not going to cut it. I GUARANTEE if sportsbooks offer lines, people will bet on them. There are degenerates out there and professional handicappers alike who want to expand their horizons and this is the PERFECT opportunity. However, nothing is being done. NOTHING. I doubt there is, but if there is even a slight chance a sportsbook is reading this blog, please step up and start offering WBB lines for the public, so we can grow the game.
Anyways, enough of that rant. Because sportsbooks do not offer CWBB lines until the day before, a website that Pace and I very much rely on is Massey Ratings. The computer system is very spot on, and often times, that is where sportsbooks get their line is off of these rankings. I definitely recommend checking out that website. All of these lines are based off Massey Ratings lines, but here are some lines that I like for the WBB slate today!
Cleveland State (-3.5) @ Central Michigan
Following their 33 point loss to an incredibly talented Iowa State squad, Cleveland State has notched off 7 straight wins, scoring over 60 points in all but one of them. The Vikings are fortunate to have a very talented guard in Destiny Leo leading the squad with 17.8 ppg and shooting nearly 39% from behind the arc. On the flip hand, Central Michigan won their first game by one point last game against North Dakota State (Sorry Pace and Pumba). However, in their 6 losses on the season they have given up 70+ points in five of those losses. This is a team that struggles defensively, and I just do not see them keeping up with a Cleveland State team that has been on a roll all season long. One team has struggled all season, and one team is currently on a seven game win streak. I think you know who you should bet on.
Maryland – Purdue Over 145.5
I know what most of you are thinking: An over/under of 145.5 in a women’s game is ridiculous, and you are taking the over! Yes, and there is good reason as to why I am doing that. These two offenses are CRAZY solid this season. Purdue is averaging over 81.5 points per game this season, while Maryland has scored an average of 74.6 ppg. These two teams have been on fire this season on offense. For Maryland, guard Diamond Miller is literally doing it all for the Terps, leading the team in points (18.6), rebounds (7.2 – yes, 7.2 rpg as a guard), and blocks (1.9 – yes, as a guard). She is playing phenomenal so far and is going to be a difference maker for Maryland. For Purdue, Lasha Petree is going to have to have a game like she has normally had this season, averaging 19.7 ppg and 4.0 rpg. This is going to be a tale of two very talented offenses, and I do think this game goes way over.
Wichita State (+2.5) @ St. Louis
If this truly ends up being lines that sportsbooks put out, this could be an absolute steal. Wichita State has looked very solid this year, whereas St. Louis simply has not. Wichita State has scored over 65 points in all but one of their games and has won four of their seven wins this season by double digits. Shockers forward Jane Asinde is making some noise in the WCBB world this year, averaging a double-double of 11.8 ppg and 11.8 rpg (7th in NCAA). She is going to have her hands full going up against St Louis’ 6’5 (yep, you read that right) Forward Brooke Flowers. The matchup between these two is going to be super intense. However, outside of Flowers and guard Kyla McMakin (leads team with 17.6 ppg), the Bilikens do not have the same talent that the Shockers have. If this line truly ends up being what the sportsbooks come out, go grab it right away, as having the Shockers as underdogs in this game is truly not accurate.
I very well may add more games to my card, but these are three games that stood out to me immediately when looking at tomorrow’s slate of games. If you have not bet women’s CBB before, I would highly recommend finding a book that offers it. The sport is growing and there is a lot of value in games like these to make you some money. More blogs like this will come out in the near future. Best of luck if you tail, and let’s make some money!
