Three-Play Thursday: Best Bets for June 2

Yesterday was a nice reminder: soccer betting is tough. Another great example came yesterday in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, as Ghana’s win over Madagascar proved to be one marker too many to be useful for my needs. I correctly read Ghana squeezing the life out of its opponent, as it never let in a goal, but didn’t have three second-half goals coming in that one.

But when you know something well, you keep plugging away at it, even when it’s difficult to break down. With international matches galore happening, now’s the time to try to put that knowledge to good use. Here are my best bets for June 2.

MINNOW PARLAY: GEORGIA TTO 2.5, ESTONIA WIN TO NIL, KOSOVO ML, +315

If you don’t know about Georgia yet, you should familiarize yourself with the Crusaders. This is a good, young side that is going to be a thorn in the sides of some bigger teams over the next half-decade. Georgia have given a credible showing over its past five matches, beating Sweden 2-0 and earning four wins and a draw while outscoring opponents 6-1 in that stretch. Gibraltar, meanwhile, have conceded three or more in 10 straight competitive fixtures and were outscored 49-4 in those games.

Estonia is up against ultimate minnow San Marino, which have not scored in 16 straight away matches, a stat that bodes well for the Blueshirts. Finally, Kosovo should be fine at Cyprus, as the Cypriots were unimpressive in World Cup qualification. Cyprus has given up 25 goals in its past 11 matches and lost eight of them, only managing to beat Estonia at home. Kosovo is a lot better than Estonia and should win here.

AGGRESSIVE PARLAY: SPAIN-PORTUGAL DRAW, CZECHIA DOUBLE CHANCE, BULGARIA-NORTH MACEDONIA “NO” ON BTTS,+810

I’m not kidding about this being aggressive, but there’s good reason for it. Playing the draw makes a lot of sense for Spain and Portugal, as the two sides have drawn their past four meetings (and three of the four have finished without a goal) and are both coming in banged up after a long domestic season. Czechia is playing at home and should be able to get a point against a Switzerland side that has struggled to do much of anything away from home, and North Macedonia’s matches tend to feature one side getting blanked. North Macedonia has seen one team shut out in six of its past seven matches, so there’s a good chance one team fires a blank.

HOME TEAMS PARLAY: AVALANCHE ML, ROCKIES ML, BREWERS ML, +550

The Rockies are doing it again: they’re playing like a contender at home and looking more like a AA team when they leave Coors Field. But they’re at home for this game, and the Braves are coming off a series loss to Arizona, which should have them vulnerable. Milwaukee has been strong at home and gets San Diego while the Padres are struggling to get the job done on the road, and the Avalanche know they need to get two wins on home ice before going up to Edmonton. It’s a risk, but one worth taking.
