Manchester United vs Burnley Prediction (12/30/21)

Today is yet again another very slow betting day in the soccer world with most leagues on holiday break and because of the virus there is only 1 game in the big 5 leagues to play on. So I wanted to take a dive into the infamous FanDuel “odds boost” which is featured on this afternoons game between ManU and Burnley. The main line today at the moment is at ManU -270 draw +390 Burnley +800. The over (2.5 goals) is -146 and the under at +120.

FanDuel is my OG gambling app I’ve been with them since Sports books were given the green light in Iowa and have yet to change. I actually had funds from back when only one day fantasy was legal. I got into the app Draft with same day fantasy baseball. They would do 8 player leagues and if you could draft one of the best starting pitchers that day you were almost guaranteed to be in the money. When FanDuel bought draft I didn’t like their fantasy so never played and when gambling became legal I jumped at the chance with the funds I still had. I have heard many times the other apps are better and actually are much better when it comes to soccer so at some point I may change but my money is on there and I feel comfortable navigating their app etc. So for now I’m staying.

The boost today is United to win plus both teams to score which is valued at +190 but boosted to +250. I’m always drawn to these boosts which I’m sure is the apps idea and usually end up losing the bets which is also obviously the apps idea. So is there a chance on this play? With United being the overwhelming favorite at -270, a $3.70 pay out on a $10 bet, even though they have been extremely inconsistent. Earlier this week they drew on the road with relegation zone dwellers Newcastle 1-1. The both teams to score is a tricky one. United have conceded at least one goal in 7 of their 8 home games this year but Burnley have only 6 goals in their 8 road games just .75 goals per match which is well below the league average of 1.27. Historically Burnley has played decent at Old Trafford recently and has scored at least 1 goal their last 4 and 5/6 there. I however will not be taking this boost. BTTS is always a wildcard to me and we really have no idea which Manchester United team will show up.

One statistic that is extremely interesting to me is that ManU has scored 74% of all of their goals after halftime and has only been leading at the half in 3 of 8 home games. You can get a Burnley 1st half double chance at -120 or the halftime spread at +1 for +120. The halftime draw is at +140. My old faithful bet of big favorite plus the under is at +251 but the play I will be making on my first ever blog is: halftime/full time result with a draw/Manchester United to win it in the second half at +300. Good luck, let’s get that coin.
