It is pretty clear from the first two days of Bowl season that the Underdog is alive and well! (The over is too)
Myrtle Beach Bowl: Old Dominion +8.5 & sprinkle ML +250
ODU is a team I faded in the early part of the season, and made a lot of money doing so. The Monarchs didn’t play a game in 2020, the team decided to opt out of the season. They’ve got a good coach in Ricky Rahne, and are playing their best ball right now.
Old Dominion lost 6 of their first 7, but come in having won 5 straight to make it to a Bowl game.
Tulsa plays in the AAC which is seemingly a tougher conference than the CUSA, but we need to examine Tulsa’s wins. They beat Arkansas St by 7, Memphis by 4, USF by 1, Tulane in overtime, beat Temple (who has quit the last 2 seasons). The Golden Hurricane also beat SMU by 3, but it was after SMU was destroyed by Cincy and their season was essentially over.
Old Dominions offense changed when the staff made the move to start Hayden Wolff, who has some solid numbers on PFF.
We need to remember how how the over has been in bowls so far, and consider taking that here too a low total of 53.5. I think the play is ODU with all that said. The Monarchs come in with the momentum in this matchup and they should be able to at least stay with Tulsa if not win straight up.
